In "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe, personification is the device that plays a larger role. He uses it when he says, "And the silken, sad, uncertain rustling of eqch purple curtain." It plays a large role because he is giving human characteristics to things that ar not even alive making the poem interesting and amusing.
In "The Incident in the Rose Garden" by Donald Justice, imagery is the device that plays a large role. He uses it when he say, "and there stokd Death in the garden, Dressed like a Spanish waiter." It plays a larger role because he is making he peom come alive in our heads by making us picture things.
