In "The Raven" By Edgar Allan Poe, alliteration is the device that plays a larger role. He uses it when he says,"And the silken, sad, uncertain rustling of each purple curtain." (line 12). It plays a large role because its a repetition of a particular sound. The sound 's' is repeated a lot in this line to emphasize it.
In "The Incident in the Rose Garden" by Donald Justice, situational is the device that plays a larger role. He uses it when he says "To show me to his master, I take it you are he?" (line 49 & 50). It plays a larger role because your expecting something else to happen, but you don't get what you expected.
