Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela who has left us on December the 5th was a very important person because he was the first black president to serve South Africa. He also wanted to end the struggle against racial oppresion. He was not just important for that, "His tireless struggle for freedom earned him the respect of the world. His humility, his compassion and his humanity earned him their love" says Lydia Polgreen..he earned respect from people that made him a great person. Mr. Mandela also spent 27 years in prison after being convicted of treason by the white minority government. Finally, I believe that Nelson Mandela was important because he was not just the first black leader of his nation but also earned a Nobel Peace Prize.
